I had no idea what this book was about when I started reading it. I always make sure to check other reviews/blurb before reading any book, but this time I just started reading it without any expectations and any knowledge of the plot. And this book turned out to be a great fun read! The story was surprisingly good with some refreshing ideas.

In the beginning, I had this weird thought that this book was going to turn very serious. I mean they were talking about creator and people not allowed to go in the outside world. Because why else would they be all secretive and dangerous? And no one had seen skies, or basically anything other than where they live. They didn't know anything! It was difficult to believe that anything like this existed, and on top of that, there was a threat of some 'Creator'. What came after that was a real shocker!! They weren't normal beings, they were tiny. And by tiny, I mean about 6 inches. So that was the reason they couldn't go outside and only few selected people who were strong enough we allowed to go into the real world to bring back the things they needed to survive.

The main character in this book was White, and her cousin who was able to go out, brought her things from outside world, and most of time they were words. Words written in a paper which White tried to make sense of since she didn't what grass meant, or for that matter, anything else. White was very curious about the outside world and always tried to know more from her cousin.
Obviously I had a hard time imagining such small human beings, and especially when White, came across a guy named Kes. Kes wasn't like them, he was like us so White was very short in front of him.

The thing I loved most about this book was how it has portrayed the world from the eyes of White. It was like looking at the same thing but from a completely different angle. It was strange, in a good was of course, to read a book from White's perspective and how she felt about everything. The story is beautifully written.

I wasn't a fan of White, to be honest. She got angry a lot, sometimes she would act on instinct and would hurt other person for no reason. But I also connected with her, sometimes I just don't click with characters in a book, but in this case I could actually understand her reasons. The romance was cute, and even though it's odd to imagine Kes and White to be a couple, I really adored them together. The side characters were great as well. Though by the end almost all the questions were answered, I couldn't help but wonder what would happen to Kes and White. I was really looking forward to more explanation.

This book is beautiful. It has cute romance, Sci-fi twist, poems, some humor, and very interesting characters. I would definitely recommend this book if you're looking for an unusual and light read. Overall, it was a pretty amazing book.

  2. Sorry! She didn't know I already messaged you about it. I'm so happy that you loved this book! I thought it would have taken a darker turn too. I've read this other book where it starts off similarly where they're underground and when she sees the world outside, it's pretty dangerous and apocalyptic. And so I started reading this, I couldn't help but think the of what kind of dangers there will be out there. It caught me totally off guard that they were tiny!

  4. I figured it so no worries! Oh yes, I really enjoyed this book. I have read a book which had a same sort of setting (underground) and it was horror so I thought this might turn out like that. But this book was really good!:)
